Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has stated that the Gunners will not make a move for a new striker in the coming January transfer window.

This comes amid rumours linking the North London club with a move for Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

In the last summer transfer window, Arteta allowed Folarin Balogun to join Monaco, leaving just Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus as the senior strikers in his squad.

So far Nketiah and Jesus have managed just three Premier League goals this season. But Arteta insisted he retains faith in the duo.

Ahead of Sunday’s summit meeting with Manchester City, Arteta was asked whether he would sign another striker.

He said: “We believe in the players that we have first of all. Because we have the resources that we have secondly, and at the moment we feel we are covering that position.”

Arsenal will hope to win all three points vs Man City or split points when they meet later today.
