Arteta backs former Chelsea star to get fans’ support

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has tipped Kai Havertz to get the club’s fans’ support despite his challenging start at Emirate Stadium.

Havertz has struggled to impress for the Gunners and has come under criticism, with the fans displaying their displeasure for the former Chelsea star inside the stadium as the Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw by Fulham on Saturday.

“Yes, I think so,” Arteta replied when asked whether the £65m signing would win over his new fans.

“I think he’s done already really good things.

“Today it was tough in certain moments. He got in great areas, and the ball didn’t arrive.

“In a lot of situations, he should have scored a lot of goals already this season. That’s the thing that is missing.”

Recall that Arsenal signed the German star from Chelsea this summer transfer window.

Since his arrival at Emirates, Havetz is yet to score or create an assist in an Arsenal shirt.
