Arsenal told to sign Chelsea poor performing player
With Arsenal playing in the Europa League next season, they are out to strengthen their team to be able to participate fully.
In a latest advice, Arsenal legend, Paul Merson, has been urged by his former club to sign Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku for £60m.
According to Merson, Arsenal’s style of play would suit Lukaku.
He stressed that the Gunners have not had a player who is big, strong and dynamic since Kevin Campbell.
Merson said Lukaku is an elite goalscorer, despite his poor form at Chelsea last season.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a centre-forward after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette left.
Also, there are doubts about Eddie Nketiah’s future at the club.
“Arsenal should make a cheeky £60m bid for Romelu Lukaku this summer. Because if Chelsea are so desperate to let him go that they are talking about loaning him to Inter Milan, surely they would take the money! Arsenal have not had someone who is big and strong and dynamic like that since Kevin Campbell,” Merson told Daily Star.
He added: “I know he has not scored a lot of goals this season, but Lukaku is an elite goalscorer. Arsenal play great football up to the edge of the box, but then it often fizzles out. Arsenal go through the lines. They want their striker on the edge of the box. It would suit him.”
While Lukaku wants to leave Chelsea this summer, it not likely he would want to sign for Arsenal as he favours a return to Inter Milan only.
