Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton in a recent statement has urged Arsenal to make a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke instead of Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

The Gunners who recently suffered another defeat to Fulham are in the transfer market for new players as they have been linked with moves for both Toney and Solanke this January transfer window.

However, Sutton urged the Gunners to go for Solanke as he would be a better option for Mikel Arteta’s side, given his form for Bournemouth this season.

“How can you be certain Ivan Toney would come in and hit the ground running? He has not played,” Sutton told BBC.

“Ivan Toney has proven himself as a really accomplished striker, but if Arsenal sign him, that doesn’t guarantee they will win the league.”

He continued: “Solanke, Dominic Solanke, at this moment in time, I think he’s a brilliant all-round striker; at this moment in time, if I had to pick Solanke or Toney, I would pick Solanke just because he’s in a bit of rhythm, he leads the line, and you don’t know what you will get from Toney; that is too much of a risk at this moment in time.”
