Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United will have to pay more to sign RB Leipzig striker this summer
As the summer transfer window approaches, strikers like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are expected to command fees of around £100 million. Benjamin Sesko’s contract included a release clause of €50 million (£42 million), making him a cheaper alternative.
However, according to Sky in Germany, Sesko has hit some performance-related targets that increased his release clause to €65 million (£56 million). This change happened after Sesko’s impressive debut season in the Bundesliga, where he scored 14 goals, with 11 of those goals coming in 2024 after he secured a regular spot in the starting line-up. He scored in each of Leipzig’s last seven games and contributed a goal or an assist in every game he started in the second half of the season.

The release clause could have gone up to €75 million (£64 million), but Sesko didn’t meet all the criteria for that increase.
RB Leipzig is determined to keep Sesko and has offered him a new contract. They hope to keep him for another year before potentially selling him for a higher fee. Football insider Fabrizio Romano notes that the club is keen to retain Sesko for at least 12 more months. Sesko’s impressive form has drawn significant interest, making him a hot prospect in the upcoming transfer window. Clubs will need to act fast if they want to secure his signature this summer.
