Former Arsenal star, Ray Parlour, has advised the club against their move to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea this summer,

According to Parlour, the Germany star doesn’t look like the right player for Arsenal to sign this summer, as he advised them to make a move for Ivan Toney of Brentford instead.

This comes after reports revealed that the Gunners are keen on signing Havertz who is their top target in the just-opened transfer window.

Chelsea on the other hand are willing to let him go after his underwhelming three seasons at Stamford Bridge.

Recall that Havertz moved to the West London side from German club Bayer Leverkusen in 2020 for an initial £62m, which could reach £71m, but struggled to impress at Chelsea.

The Blues are said to be demanding around £70m for Havertz but Arsenal are hoping to pay much less.

“You need an out and out goal-scorer, if you’re Arsenal,” Parlour told talkSPORT. “They need someone to put the ball in the net.

‘For me, I don’t think that’s the right signing. For me, it’s a shame, I’d have gone for Ivan Toney but he’s obviously got that ban and whether they want to take a chance with that…but he would have been the obvious choice for me.”
