Manchester United in a recent statement have confirmed that their player Antony will not return to the club after the international break amid allegations of assault against him.

This comes as Antony’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin claimed the footballer assaulted her on four occasions.

Aside from that, two more women in Brazil, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, also accused the 23-year-old of physical abuse.

Antony had also been left out by Brazil for their World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, and Man United have also towed the same line.

“Man Utd acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. He will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.

“As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse”.

In his own statement, Antony said: “I have agreed with United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me.

“This was a mutual decision.

“I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, I will fully cooperate with the police”
