Former Man Utd star Gary Neville has stressed that Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is the favourite to take up a permanent coach at Old Trafford.

Neville, in his statement, however, revealed he preferred PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino to take up the role.

Pochettino, alongside Ten Hag, are some of the leading names to replace interim coach Ralf Rangnick at the end of this season.

In a message via Twitter, Neville said he would pick PSG boss Pochettino, even if it isn’t the popular decision among the club’s supporters.

He wrote: “Personally I would go for Pochettino but Ten Hag is the massive favourite of United fans to take the club forward.

“That’s if it is a clear choice between the 2.”

The report has revealed that Man United’s decision-makers interviewed ten Hag on Monday as the Premier League club stepped up their search to find a permanent manager to help turn around things at the club.
