Former Arsenal star, Ian Wright has sent a message to the club’s head coach Mikel Arteta about midfielder Ethan Nwaneri.

Wright advised Arteta to give Nwaneri more playing time in the first team.

The former Arsenal star is of the opinion that the 17-year-old deserved more game time, particularly as captain Martin Odegaard is currently recovering from injury.

According to Wright, Nwaneri has the ability to create chances.

“You know what I think with Odegaard missing as well, when I saw Merino, Partey. and Rice, I was thinking, listen, Nwaneri the youngster,” Wright said on Stick To Football podcast.

Recalling Arsenal’s game against Bournemouth, Wright said if a team has two midfielders as a double pivot, whether it’s Declan and Merino, he thinks they need somebody like Nwaneri, who can create something.

“Because I think that’s what is majorly missing. Somebody needs to beat someone,” he added.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are focused on their next match against Premier League topper Liverpool led by manager Arne Slot come this weekend at Emirates Stadium.

The North London club will be hoping to bounce back with a win after they suffered a defeat to Bournemouth last weekend.
