Arsenal new striker Viktor Gyokeres has opened up on why he snubbed Man Utd to join the Gunners.

Recall that the North London club signed Gyokeres this summer in a deal worth £65 million from Sporting Lisbon.

Before the completion of Gyokeres’ deal, the striker had also being linked with moves to Man Utd, where he was tipped for a reunion with manager Ruben Amorim.

However, Man Utd’s defeat in the Europa League was part of the reason they lost the striker to Arsenal.

Not only could the Gunners offer Gyokeres Champions League football, but the Red Devils’ 15th-placed finish in the Premier League last season was the worst in their history.

All of these made Gyokeres consider his move to Arsenal instead.

As quoted by The Mirror, Gyokeres said: “I just felt that it was the right club for me.”

He added that when he played against Arsenal last season, he could feel it was a very strong team and very difficult to play against.

“That made me choose Arsenal, and of course all the history the club has and the massive fanbase,” Gyokeres said.

Gyokeres is expected to make his debut appearance for the Gunners when they play against Tottenham Hotspur.
