Former Arsenal star Ian Wright, has thrown his weight behind referee Glenn Nyberg’s decision not to award Bukayo Saka a last-gasp penalty against German club Bayern Munich.

A clip from the match showed Saka fuming when the final whistle after Nyberg waved him off, after he collided with Bayern keeper Manuel Neuer late into injury time.

The referee was unconvinced that Neuer fouled the Gunners winger and allowed the game to continue.

But while the referee was booed by the Arsenal supporters, not everyone connected with the North London club was convinced it should have been a penalty.

Wright supported Nyberg’s decision and urged the Gunners squad to focus on the second leg.

He tweeted: “Not a pen for me. Work to do in Munich.”

Arsenal will now have to travel to Germany where they will play against Bayern Munich in the second leg at the Allianz Arena.
