Hector Bellerin, in a recent statement, has revealed the reason for leaving Arsenal to join the Spanish side Real Betis on loan.

According to Bellerin, he left the Gunners in the summer transfer window to win more trophies.

Recall that the 26-year-old decision to join Manuel Pellegrini’s side came at the last minute on deadline day as he made a loan transfer to his boyhood club for the 2021-22 football season.

Bellerin, in his statement, stressed that his father, a lifelong fan of Betis, was a major reason behind his move to the Spanish club.

He, however, said he joined the club to win trophies as he is not on vacation.

“Many things are talked about in the market and my father always said that he had to go to Betis, that dream was fulfilled and he is a person who lived it since he was little, and who has instilled it in everyone,” Bellerin told the Real Betis website.

“I wanted the sun and heat, but I didn’t come here on vacation, but to fight for my position. I’ve left Arsenal to win things with Real Betis. I’m not here for a holiday,” he added.
