Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has opened up about keeping defender Takehiro Tomiyasu at the club amid reports linking him with a move away from the club in January.

A report via Sky Sports revealed Bundesliga side Bayern Munich are making moves to secure a deal across the line for Tomiyasu.

The defender’s versatility has caught the eye of Bayern Munich coach, Thomas Tuchel.

Tomiyasu has shown that he can cover multiple positions including left-back and right-back.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Brentford on Saturday, Arteta admitted that the Japan international is loved by everyone.

The Gunners coach said (via Football London):
“I really want him to stay. I value the player a lot.

“He is loved and respected by everybody at the club. He is at the level we need to make an impact on the team. He is going to be with us.”
