Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has taken the decision to sign Brentford’s David Raya on a permanent deal.

This latest update was revealed by popular football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, on Thursday evening.

Raya arrived at the North London club in an initial loan deal in the last summer transfer window, but Romano has explained that it was due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules.

Arsenal are expected to trigger the £27million buy option clause in the summer of 2024.

Romano tweeted: “Understand Arsenal have decided to seal David Raya deal in 2024 — it’s all guaranteed as buy option clause will be triggered for £27m.

“Raya already signed potential long-term contract as #AFC player for June 2024 — all done.

“Brentford accepted this structure due to FFP.”

Aaron Ramsdale may have to now consider leaving Arsenal amid limited game time since the arrival of Raya.
