Arteta reveals he was tempted to rest Arsenal star who created assists Vs Southampton
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has reacted to Bukayo Saka’s performance against Southampton in the English Premier on Saturday.
Recall that the North London maintained their top form against the Saints who had an early lead in the second half before the Gunners responded with three goals, winning all three points.
Saka gave former Chelsea man Kai Havertz the assist for the Gunners’ first goal.
The English star played provider again for Gabriel Martinelli, pushing Arsenal into the lead, as he registered his seventh assist of the Premier League season and 42nd in the top flight overall.
Saka has now created more Premier League assists for Arsenal than Robert Pires.
He sealed the all three points by also scoring the third and last goal during the match.
While Cole Palmer and Wilfred Ndidi (four each) are the closest challengers to Saka for the Playmaker prize, Arteta confirmed that he was tempted to rest the winger against the Saints.
“Yes there is, and we have taken him off a few times this season and we have to manage the load on him, but at the moment, he’s in a good place,” Arteta said while speaking about Saka.
