Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has nothing but praises for the Gunners’s latest signing Riccardo Calafiori after he made his home debut for the North London side on Sunday.

Recall that Calafiori completed a transfer to the Gunners’ side earlier this summer transfer window in a £42 million deal from Bologna.

The 22-year-old defender got the chance to play for the North London club in the second half, as they defeated Lyon 2-0 in the Emirates Cup on Sunday.

Arteta while addressing the media after the match applauded Calafiori who he said brings a lot of versatility because he can play in two or three different positions and especially in attack.

Arteta stressed that the former Bologna star an occupy different spaces because he is a real defender.

Speaking more about Calafiori, the Gunners boss said the defender’s presence, physicality, and how he goes to the duels are unbelievable.

Reacting to the defender’s achievement with his former club last year, Arteta thinks he is the kind of player that can improve his side.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will return to action next weekend when they play Wolves in their first game of a new season in the Premier League, hopefully Calafiori will start in the defence.
