Arsenal may have missed out on signing some players in the January transfer window, however, there are indications that the club is working tirelessly ahead of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal is known to be a top club in the EPL with a lean budget when it comes to transfers which is why most times they tend to sign young players.

Ahead of the January transfer window, the Gunners have been linked with moves to sign  Tiago Tomas from Portuguese side, Sporting Lisbon.

The reports disclosed that Tomas, 18, caught the attention of Edu and Mikel Arteta while they watched his performance during Sporting’s recent clash vs Primeira Liga rivals Benfica, who Arsenal played against in the Europa League round of 32.

Tomas also broke into Sporting’s first-team last season and has so far become a regular in Ruben Amorim’s side this season with four goals in all competitions to his name already.

According to The Sun, Arsenal technical director Edu is impressed with Tomas and saw to it that Sporting’s director of football, Hugo Viana, was approached to discuss a possible deal that could see him move to North London in the summer.

Further reports revealed that the discussion has gotten to an advance stage and Sporting are considering a cut-price fee of £20million for the youngster.
