Kieran Tierney believes the club players must take the blame for their “terrible” form after a chastening defeat to Burnley that piles pressure on Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal have made their worst start to a Premier League season in 61 years as they’ve lost four consecutive home league matches, a move that have seen them fighting for survival at the bottom of the table.

This has left a lot of question mark at the future of Mikel Arteta who was brought in to steady the ship.

Many have claimed that Ozil should be called back into the squad but Tierney who has been among their better performers believes the squad must take ownership of a run.

Speaking about the Burnley match and why the squad needs to take all the blame, Tierney said:

“It’s not good enough.”

“There’s no way to disguise it. It’s terrible, to be honest. It’s not what we are, not where we are as a club. It’s not what the fans deserve, it’s not what the manager deserves, it’s not what the board deserve.

“It’s us players that need to take responsibility for this. It’s on us and nobody else. We have got a great manager and we believe in him 100%. The blame is on us, nobody else.”

Tierney will be hoping his teammates get their acts together  when they host fourth-placed Southampton, who have picked up 10 points from their last five games on Wednesday.
