A report has linked Arsenal and Liverpool with moves to sign Brighton’s Yves Bissouma in the January transfer window.

Bissouma became a target following his performance against Liverpool in the EPL which ended in a 1 – 1 draw.

According to talkSPORT’s transfer insider, Alex Crook, he revealed that the performance of the 24-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of Arsenal and Liverpool, who are now contemplating a bid at the turn of the year.

“Bissouma is a player Arteta is a big fan of,” Crook told the Jim White show. “I know Arsenal are by no means the only big six club keeping tabs on him.

Liverpool boss is also monitoring his situation as he looks for a replacement for the out of contract Gini Wijnaldum.

“Bissouma himself is contracted until 2023 so next summer would usually be the time when they would start negotiating a potential new deal.”

Why Liverpool may not really need a new midfielder, Arsenal on the other hand are desperate for one as they have lack creativity in the midfield this season.

The Gunners have also been linked with moves to sign Christian Eriksen who is struggling to perform at Inter Milan.

“We know it has’t worked out particularly well for Eriksen since he joined Inter Milan,” Crook continued. “He only has three league starts this season.

“I know Mike Arteta is hoping for a busy January and Eriksen, I understand, is on his list of potential targets.”

We will have to wait till January to see if Arsenal will make any move for the any of the midfielders.
