Barcelona reportedly eye this Man Utd forward

The latest reports have revealed that Spanish giants Barcelona could swoop in for Man Utd centre forward and Uruguay international Edison Cavani in the next transfer window.

Recall that the 34-year-old in the early part of this year extended his contract with the Red Devils to remain at Old Trafford until the summer of 2022.

He is, however, not expected to remain in the club beyond the end of the current campaign.

There are growing speculations that Cavani could depart Mam Utd before next summer because the new season has seen him get limited playing chances due to injury and the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo, who he has to compete with for starts upfront.

A report via the Daily Star claimed Barca intend to make a move for the centre-forward market in the January transfer window amid their attacking injury crisis, and Cavani has been identified as a suitable, but that could help them out.

The report added that Cavani would only join the Spanish club on a short-term loan deal, but Barcelona would have to fork out a significant amount of the striker’s wages if he decides to move to the La Liga.
