West Brom vs Man Utd: Red Devils captain blamed for poor performance

Manchester Utd were held to a draw over the weekend when they face West Brom in the Premier League.

While the Red Devils remain in the top four, they are however losing grounds to arch-rival, Man City who are now seated at the top of the league table and are favourites to win this season.

In a post-match statement, Man Utd captain, Harry Maguire has been blamed for the Red Devils performance vs. West Brom.

This comes as former Liverpool midfielder, Graeme Souness, slammed Maguire for diving following the Reds’ Premier League 1-1 draw with West Brom on Sunday.

Souness believed his diving cost Man Utd all three points over the weekend.

He added that Maguire went to the ground as though he had been hit with a baseball bat during Man United’s clash with West Brom at Hawthorns.

“It’s clearly offside and he [Harry Maguire] goes to ground as though he’s been hit with a baseball bat,” Souness told Sky Sports.

He stressed that was wrong for Maguire to have thrown himself on the ground the way he did.

“He said he thinks it’s a penalty. It’s not enough to bring him down the way he goes down. He throws himself to the ground. It’s not a penalty,” he said.
