Former AC Milan star, Marco van Basten is the latest past player to react to manager Erik ten Hag’s transfer policy at Manchester United.

Van Basten in his statement slammed Ten Hag for signing 22-year-old midfielder Manuel Ugarte from French side PSG.

According to the former AC Milan star, it’s ‘idiotic’ from Ten Hag to invest in players like Ugarte who he considered not good enough for the Red Devils.

Recall that Ugarte was among the signings the Red Devils made for Ten Hag in the summer transfer window.

Aside from Ugarte, Man Utd also completed transfers for Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in the same window.

Van Basten while speaking on Ziggo Sport said queried why the Red Devils would splashed €50 million (£42.3m) for Ugarte.

“It’s idiotic how much Ten Hag has decided to invest in players who are not even good,” he added.
