Man Utd returned to action in the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday night when they battle it out with the Spanish side, Villarreal.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw with the duo of  Gerard Moreno and Edison Cavani scoring for their respective sides.

The winner of the match was later declared through penalty kicks which ended in favour of the Spanish club after David De Gea was able to find the back of the net.

Following the end of the match, former Man Utd star, Paul Scholes fingered De Gea as the reason why Man Utd lost.

According to him, De Gea has a record of losing penalties and it was wrong to have started him during the game.

Going by record, the last time the Spaniard last saved a penalty for the Red Devils was in April 2016.

“Once you get to penalties anything can happen, we know that,” Scholes told BT Sport.

“I always feel a little bit worried being an Englishman that we’d be on the wrong side of it.

Scholes noted that Luke Shaw also got lucky during the penalty shootout.

Man Utd will have to focus on next season as they will be playing in the Champions League.
