Ronaldo sends message to North Macedonia
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to North Macedonia ahead of their clash with Portugal in the world cup qualifiers.
Ronaldo stressed that Portugal was not Italy or any other European country, North Macedonia had defeated
Recall that Italy, who are the current European champions, were defeated 1-0 by North Macedonia last week.
The result ended Italy’s hopes of playing in the 2022 World Cup.
“Macedonia surprised everyone, but they will not surprise us,” Ronaldo told a pre-match press conference on Monday.
“Portugal will be better and go to the World Cup,” he added.
Ronaldo also appealed to Portuguese fans to be loud as possible, as they did during their game against Turkey in a 3-1 win last week.
“I would like to sing our national anthem without music.
“If they are like they were on Thursday, I’m sure we will win,” Ronaldo said.
Also, when Ronaldo was asked if he would be retiring should Portugal suffer a shock loss to the North Macedonians.
“Who will decide my future will be me.
“If I feel like playing more, I will. I’m the boss, end of story,” he said.
