Man Utd striker Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that his home country Portugal are close to earning a spot in the 2022 World Cup.

This comes after they defeated Turkey in the Semi-final on Thursday night on a 3-1 scoreline in Porto.

The Portuguese side will now move to the final, where they will take on North Macedonia, who unexpectedly defeated European champions Italy 1-0 in their semi-final clash.

Ronaldo stressed that while Portugal will ‘respect’ North Macedonia, they are, however, confident of winning Tuesday’s final to secure their position at this year’s World Cup.

“The first step has been taken towards our great objective, towards the 2022 World Cup. Nothing is won; nothing is achieved. We have to continue to work in a serious and focused way, respecting the opponent but always believing in our abilities. Power Portugal! Go to Qatar!” Ronaldo posted on Twitter.

It will come as a bigger surprise if North Macedonia should bet Portugal, and if they dont, they have already set some new records for themselves.
