Portugal international and midfielder Bruno Fernandes is set to get a five-year contract extension with double salary at Man Utd, according to BBC Sport.

Recall that Fernandes moved to Old Trafford from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.

He has, however, gone on to become one of the key players at the club.

With his current contract set to expire in June 2025, the Red Devils are determined to keep him at the club.

While his form has dipped this season, the Portuguese midfielder has scored 49 times in 117 appearances in all competitions for Man Utd.

At the moment, Fernandes is on international duty with his home country Portugal, who best Turkey 3-1 in the World Cup playoff semi-final on Thursday.

He is also expected to play when they face North Macedonia to get a spot in this year’s world cup in Qatar.

Once the international break end, Fernandes will return to Man United and is expected to be available when they host Leicester City at Old Trafford in the Premier League on April 2.

Man Utd are currently seated outside the top four on the league table.
