Manchester United have welcome their striker, Joe Hugill back to the club after a six-month loan stint at English club, Wigan Athletic amid the ongoing January transfer window.

Hugill scored five goals for the League One side during his time at the club and featured for the Red Devils in their pre-season win over Rangers in Edinburgh, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win.

The 21-year-old star went on to sign for the Latics and was handed their no.9 shirt under coach Shaun Maloney.

In December, the striker scored in Wigan’s 2-1 defeat to promotion-chasing Wrexham in December.

He made 18 appearances for Wigan and is now back at Carrington to continue his development at Man United under manager Ruben Amorim.

While Hugill’s recall clause was activated in the loan agreement, there are no details yet on if he would feature regularly for Amorim in the second half of the ongoing season.

Meanwhile, Amorim’s side are at  the 13th position in the Premier League table.
