Man Utd shelve plans to sign new striker

Ahead of the summer transfer window, it appears that Man Utd will no longer be making any move to sign a new striker.

This comes as Uruguay international, Edison Cavani agreed to a one year extension deal.

With Cavani agreeing to stay put, there would be no need for the Red Devils to sign any new striker.

Cavani has been impressive at Old Trafford since arriving at the club last summer, he has scored 15 goals for the Red Devils in 35 appearances.

With this latest development, Man Utd will no longer be making move for Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund and Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur.

However, The Times reports that United will instead prioritise the purchase of Haaland’s teammate Jadon Sancho ahead of a striker this summer.

Recall that Solskjaer tried to sign the English winger last summer window but the Red Devils were unwilling to meet the German club’s £108m asking price.

However, Man Utd now have another chance to complete the move as Dortmund are understood to have reduced their valuation of Sancho to around £80m, a figure that United would be prepared to pay.

Moreover, Sancho is said to be willing to move to the English Premier League.
