Man Utd midfielder close to leaving Old Trafford, new club disclosed
Manchester United midfielder, Donny van De Beek is closed to leaving Old Trafford this summer transfer window as his possible new club has been revealed.
According to popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Dutchman will complete his transfer away from Man United to Spanish side Girona “early next week.”
The report added that the Red Devils will receive just under €1 million, £850,000, in an initial fee for the 27-year-old.
The Red Devils will then get up to €4-5m (£3.4m-4.2m) based on the midfielder’s appearances and other add-ons.
Recall that Van de Beek joined Man United from Dutch side Ajax in 2020 but didn’t impress at Old Trafford.
At some point, he was sent out loans, playing at Everton and Frankfurt in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
A move to Girona is a good deal for Van De Beek as he will get a chance to play regularly.
Aside from this, Girona impressed in the 2023/24 season in La Liga, and secured UEFA Champions League qualification.
Since they will be playing in European tournament next season, the La Liga side will need more depth in their squad to compete.
This means, the 27-year-old Manchester United midfielder would be a useful acquisition and would also get a chance to play in the UCL.
