Manchester United have announced that their young defender Rhys Bennett will spend the rest of the season on loan at Stockport County.

Bennett will hope to get senior football experience when at the League Two top club.

The 20-year-old defender was the captain of the Under-18s team that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022.

He also scored the opening goal of the final against Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

Before his loan transfer, Bennett has been representing Man Utd in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy this season.

However, he didn’t get a chance to make his first-team bow for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The Red Devils revealed they would keep a close monitoring on Bennett during his time at Stockport County.

“Best of luck to Rhys and we will be keeping tabs on his progress,” Man United said in an official statement released via its website.
