Manchester United are close to signing a new player this summer transfer window.

Recent report via popular football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed the Red Devils are closing in on talks with German club Bayern Munich over a deal for Matthijs de Ligt.

Recall that the Red Devils recently completed their first summer signing with Joshua Zirkzee joining in a deal worth slightly more than his €40 million release clause.

Zirkee is expected to compete for a spot with Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils are now focused on signing De Ligt as their new centre defender having reached personal agreement with the Dutchman.

It was reported that the Netherlands international told his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, that he’s only intent on a move to Old Trafford, and now Man Utd and Bayern Munich are engaging in talks over the payment structure.

De Ligt is expected to sign a deal valid until June 2029, and will be featured alongside Lisandro Martinez in what could become a long-term partnership.

Romano in his writing on Daily Briefing revealed that negotiations on the club’s side are progressing well.

This means the Red Devils could seal the deal soon as they work on their strengthening their team under manager Erik ten Hag ahead of next season.
