In a recent statement, Amorim made it clear that it that Manchester United are in a relegation battle.

This comes after their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Monday in the Premier League.

The defeat to the Magpies leaves the Red Devils just seven points above the bottom three.

Amorim in a post-match statement added that it was “a bit embarrassing” to be talking about relegation, but acknowledged that the blame should be put on him.

“That is really clear [United are being dragged into a relegation battle] so we have to fight,” Amorim said via Sky Sports.

He stressed that it’s a difficult moment in the history of Manchester United and it has to be addressed with sincerity.

Amorim added that the Red Devils must acknowledge their position on the league table.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils will face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday before playing Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
