Maguire reacts to rift with Ronaldo over captain armband

There have been report of a rift between Man Utd players Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo over the club’s captain armband.

However, in the latest statement, Manchester United captain Maguire on Friday has now debunked rumours of any rift between him and teammate Cristiano Ronaldo over the captain’s armband at the club.

Maguire, in his statement, played down the rumours of a dressing room unrest at Old Trafford.

Addressing The Mirror’s report, Maguire wrote on Twitter: “I’ve seen a lot of reports about this club that aren’t true and this is another.

“Not going to start posting about everything that is written but I needed to make this one clear. We’re united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone.”

Maguire’s tweet comes hours after the report claimed that there is now a growing belief in the Man United dressing room that Ronaldo will take over as captain, while Maguire struggles for form at the back.

Man Utd will return to action on Sunday in the Premier League when they face Leeds United.
