Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has reacted to the claim of him becoming an assistant coach at Old Trafford next season alongside Erik ten Hag.

The reports in England revealed that Manchester United’s board has already interviewed Ten Hag to be the permanent coach next season.

The report added that Ferdinand was willing to take up the assistant job.

Ten Hag is now the favourite to take over at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils could make an official announcement next month.

The Ajax manager was expected to bring some of his assistant coaches with him to Manchester, but the reports claimed Man United’s board are considering Ferdinand.

Man Utd are said to want one of their players as a coaching assistant, and it could be one of Ferdinand and Robin van Persie.

Ferdinand, in the latest statement, has reacted to the claims, particularly suggestions that he put himself forward for the role.

Quoting the rumour, Ferdinand replied on Twitter: “Who’s feeding you this sh*t?! Put myself forward yanoooooo.”

Van Persie could be a suitable pick as he is currently coaching at Feyenoord and working with both the first team and the Under-16 side
