Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag seems to have taken a swipe at Saudi Pro League and the American MLS who have taken the spotlight this summer transfer window.

Ten Hag in his statement said he does not see Saudi Arabia’s spending as a problem for a league like the English Premier League as it remains the go-to place for top players.

This comes amid the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo N’Golo Kante, among other top players switching to the Middle East league.

Ten Hag, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer from Dutch side Ajax, does not see it as a problem for the English top flight.

“I think in Europe it has an effect because there is some money over there and it will attract players,” the Dutchman said.

“But I don’t see it at this moment as a problem for the Premier League because the Premier League is the league where the big players want to play.

“That is not in competition with a league like America or Saudi Arabia.”
