Xavi wants Chelsea captain at Camp Nou

It appears Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez is determined to raid Chelsea in the coming transfer window.

This is because a number of Chelsea players have been named in his list of players he handed to the Spanish side to sign.

The latest report via ESPN revealed that Xavi had told the Catalans hierarchy to sign Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta on a free transfer next summer.

ESPN reports that the Barcelona new boss has demanded that they sign the 32-year-old, and the Spanish side are now keeping tabs on the player’s situation at Stamford Bridge.

Azpilicueta is one of the senior players, having spent ten seasons at Stamford Bridge and helping them win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the Europa League on two occasions.

However, the Spanish defender’s current contract with the Blues expires at the end of the 2021/22 season, and so far, they are yet to agree on a new deal with the 32-year-old, which means Chelsea will allow him leave in the summer.

The only thing that can make Chelsea have a change of mind is if Azpilicueta gives a top performance which can convince the club to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge.
