With Antonio Conte out of the list of coaches that could take over at Newcastle United, former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has been urged to accept the role if it comes.

This is according to former Newcastle manager, Sam Allardyce, who stressed that Lampard has rested and gained the experience from Derby County and Chelsea for the Newcastle job.

Since the take over of Newcastle United by the Saudi Consortium, the Magpies have been looking for a new coach to replace Steve Bruce as they hope to revamp the team and become a major contender in the coming seasons.

Allardyce told TALKSport Breaksfast, “Whereas Frank Lampard if I were him I would jump at the chance.

“He’s rested, gained the experience from Derby for Newcastle, his first season at Chelsea, with very tight restrictions, got them to the Champions League.

“Then when they spent the money, and they didn’t gel, he was gone.

“If the club has got money, there’s not a better place for Frank than to take Newcastle on.

“Maybe that might be the owners’ view and it would be nice to see a British manager taking over any Premier League club.”
