Why Potter could be sacked soon at Chelsea

Chelsea have been described as ‘a big mess’ over their move for Arsenal transfer target Mikhailo Mudryk, according to Frank Lebouef.

The Blues spent heavily in the last summer’s transfer window, splashing a total of £280 million to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, Raheem Sterling from Manchester City, and Marc Cucurella from Brighton.

However, none of these players has been all that impressive to justify the money Chelsea spent on them and Lebouef fears manager Graham Potter may not be given the time he needs to rebuild the squad.

This January Chelsea have been linked with moves for Mudryk and are said to be in a discussion for Argentina World Cup star Enzo Fernandez.

Lebouef said Chelsea’s January move could be another waste of money

He told ESPN FC: “It’s sad in a way if Mr Potter knew he had no fingerprints to put inside the club he shouldn’t have signed because he knew he would be in a washing machine.

“Somebody has to pay the price and it’s always the coach because you cannot change five or six players.

“We all see what is going wrong inside that team. I don’t think Mr Potter has a chance to build something I thought he was picked to change the way of Chelsea not buying stars.

“We see all those players struggling because there is no idea and no plan whatsoever. The only one who can have a plan is Mr Potter because he’s the head of the team.

“It’s going to be a big mess. It’s what we have right now. You buy players, put everyone together but you don’t know what to do with it, so it’s a big mess.”
