Why Kante reportedly rejected Chelsea’s new offer

Chelsea midfielder and France international N’Golo Kante has reportedly rejected a 2 years contract extension from the club.

While the world cup winner has struggled for consistent fitness over the past couple of years, with reports linking him to Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in the recent summer window, Chelsea are keen on keeping him.

The reports revealed that despite Kante’s injury, Chelsea under Todd Boehly wants the midfielder to stick around a little while longer.

Chelsea have however been dealt with an early blow in their bid to extend Kante’s contract.

This comes as The Athletic claimed that the midfielder has rejected a verbal offer of a two-year contract.

The report added that the proposal also included an option for a third season, but Kante was not willing to accept the offer due to wanting a longer-term deal.

If he doesn’t extend his contract, the Frenchman will be a free agent at the end of this season and have the opportunity to reach an agreement with new clubs from January.
