The real reasons Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly visited Camp Nou has been revealed.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Boehly, travelled to Barcelona on Thursday arriving at the club in the night amid reports of transfer talks with the Spanish club.

The likely deals for Frenkie de Jong, Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso are the points of discussion as the Blues look to rebuild Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of the new season.

Romano said the Blues owner wanted a meeting with Barcelona to get to know the club in person and discuss many topics.

Romano tweeted on Thursday night, “Chelsea owner Todd Boehly wanted to schedule a meeting with Barcelona to know them in person and discuss many topics. Barça ask for Marcos Alonso & Azpilicueta after personal terms agreed

“Barça don’t want to pay too high a fee as both are out of contract next year.

“The meeting between Todd Boehly and the Barcelona board for Azpilicueta, Marcos Alonso and other topics is scheduled in the coming hours.

“Boehly will directly take care of the negotiations as always – both Azpi and Alonso have an agreement with Barça. Up to Chelsea now.”
