Why Chelsea will regret sacking Tuchel

The sporting director of German Bundesliga side, Mainz, Christian Heidel, has reacted to Thomas Tuchel’s sack at Chelsea as he slammed the club’s owners.

According to Heidel, the Blues’ new owners, led by Todd Boehly ‘have no idea about football’.

Recall that Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday following the Blues’ 1-0 defeat to lowly-rated Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the opening Champions League group game last Tuesday night.

Hiedel and Tuchel worked extensively together during their time with Mainz and the German has criticised Chelsea owners on their decision while adding that they would regret their action.

“With Thomas, it came out of the blue,” Hiedel told BILD.

‘‘Someone who has no idea about football probably thought that sixth place wasn’t good enough for him and said, ‘then let’s try another coach’.”

“After only six games, I can’t think of any other reason. But Chelsea will bitterly regret this decision – they won’t get such a good coach again so quickly.”
