Why Chelsea should replace Kepa

Former England goalkeeper, Ben Foster has advised Chelsea to find a replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga as he stressed that the £72m Spaniard should have saved Everton’s late equaliser at Stamford Bridge over the weekend.

Recall that Chelsea were hoping to win all three points during their game against the Toffees, which could have been their fourth straight win on Saturday evening after Kai Havertz restored their lead with a 76th-minute penalty.

They, however, had to split points with Everton after a late goal from Ellis Simms, who came off the bench to score an equaliser, which also happened to be his first goal for Everton.

Foster blamed Kepa for the goals as he said the goalie should have done better when the striker beat him from a tight angle.

“Let’s talk about Everton’s equaliser because I think Kepa should save it,” Foster said on his YouTube channel. “A top goalkeeper saves that.

“These are fine margins but I think a top goalie has to save that. He fell a little bit short.

“I don’t think Kepa is the right guy for it, full stop. I don’t think he’s the long-term solution,” he said.

Foster hopes that Chelsea “will need to go into the market and sign somebody.”
