Former Chelsea winger, Florent Malouda, has advised the club not to put their midfielder N’Golo Kante up for sale.

Kante is close to leaving Chelsea as a free agent this summer as he is yet to pen a new deal with the Blues.

Malouda in his message to Chelsea urged the club owner Todd Boehly to extend Kante’s contract because of his leadership qualities and personality.

“Like with Mount, N’Golo Kante is important to Chelsea for other reasons and that is what he represents to the club, what he gives to the team and the way the fans love him,” Florent Malouda told DAZN Bet.

“I think it’s necessary to keep him at the club, not only as a player but maybe after his career.

“You can see he has given his health for the club. When he was injured, you could see Chelsea weren’t the same. There is also his personality; it is important, he is a role model we need to keep. He is humble and ambitious, he sets an example for the other players.”
