Why Chelsea might miss out in the top four this season
Chelsea sacked Frank Lampard in January after they dropped out from the top four to the 9th position on the league table.
The Blues went on to replace the English man with Former PSG coach, Thomas Tuchel to return to the top four this season.
While Chelsea have remained unbeaten under Tuchel they have also moved to the fifth spot on the log table and could ascend higher if the defeat Man Utd this weekend.
However, football pundit, Paul Merson in a statement believes Chelsea don’t have what it takes to make it to the top four as he believes they miss out on making it this season.
Merson feels the Blues are limited under Tuchel and lack the ability to blow teams away.
He stressed that this will cost them the top-four race.
“Thomas Tuchel needs to get Mason Mount and Timo Werner playing closer together for Chelsea,” Merson wrote in his Daily Star column.
Merson stated that there is too much going on out wide with overlaps and crosses to no-one in the box at the moment, and nothing is coming through the middle.
“They have a lot of the ball, but the opposition keeper doesn’t have to be the man of the match to stop them scoring bundles,” he added.
