Why Arsenal need to pay West Ham extra for Rice

Former Arsenal star Ian Wright in a recent statement said his former club need to pay West Ham an extra £20 million for Declan Rice.

Recall that Rice moved to the Emirates Stadium for a club-record £100 million, with a potential £5 million more in add-ons.

During the summer window, some fans said that the Gunners paid too much for the English midfielder, especially as he only had a year left on his contract.

However, the 24-year-old has turned out to be worth the transfer fee, with the club winning 12 and losing just two of the 18 games he has started so far.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House podcast, Wright said: “I was speaking to a couple of West Ham fans recently, and I wind them up all the time.

“I said, “Do you know something? I feel like we robbed you. I feel like we should give you an extra £20 million. I’m going to give you an extra £20 million because it’s making me feel guilty that we’ve only got him for £100 million!
