Who to be blamed for Man Utd woes

Former Newcastle United star Alan Shearer has blamed the Glazer family for the woes at Manchester United.

The Red Devils have endured a rough start to the 2023-24 season as they are currently seated at the 10th spot in the Premier League table after eight games, losing half of their top-flight matches.

Man Utd have also lost two of their UEFA Champions League games against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray, respectively.

“What is happening at the very top [the Glazer family] of the football club, inevitably at some stage it always filters its way down onto the pitch,” Shearer told The Rest Is Football podcast when quizzed about Man United’s woes.

“People will say it should not do, it got nothing to do with the players what is going on in the boardroom, but it happens. You know it does.

“There’s discontent among the fans because of the owners and that has filtered down onto the pitch. I don’t see it getting significantly better until that changes.”
