Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has reacted to Chelsea’s move for Enzo Maresca as their new manager following Mauricio Pochettino’s sack.

According to Collymore, Maresca’s position at Stamford Bridge will be under threat during the Christmas period next season.

The former Liverpool star stressed that the Blues have made a mistake by reportedly appointing Maresca as their new manager, as he believe it would have been good if they had ‘stuck with Mauricio Pochettino.’

Chelsea parted ways with Pochettino despite the Argentine leading them to the sixth spot on the league table and bagging a qualification to play in the Conference League next season.

In a matter of days, the Blues are expected to officially unveil Maresca as their new boss.

Collymore in a post via his CaughtOffside column said he would be absolutely astounded if by Christmas, there were no rumblings about Maresca’s position already being under threat because it is a young, fickle, rookie group.

He added that by November/December, Chelsea could be having another conversation about the club changing their manager again.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will be active in the summer transfer window as they plan to rebuild their squad.
