Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on Friday in a statement opened up on what he believes would happen at Manchester United under their new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Guardiola believes Man Utd will “make a step forward” under Ratcliffe.

The Citizens managed, however, insisted he is “not worried” about Ratcliffe’s comments that he wants to knock Man City “off their perch.”

Recall that Ratcliffe’s stake at Old Trafford was confirmed on Tuesday and the 71-year-old has been taking some big moves since then.

But speaking to reporters on Friday, Guardiola said: “I think I am pretty sure with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the other people Manchester United are going to make a step forward.

“I had the feeling they know exactly what they have to do, appointing people they need. With his experience in the business world it can make the project better. But that is normal.

“All the teams want it [to be at the top] and we want to be there. As long as I am here we will try to be there again.”
