Germany international Timo Werner is currently on international duty and has been impressive for his home country, unlike how he struggles at Stamford Bridge.

Werner in the latest statement has now given a reason for this.

He stressed that he feels comfortable playing for Germany compared to Chelsea due to “differences in the style of play”.

Werner has struggled at Stamford Bridge since he arrived from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2020 in a £53million transfer.

However, his performance on the international stage is different as he again was on the scoresheet in a 2-0 friendly win over Israel.

After the game, he told reporters: “I’m a striker and always want to score. Things aren’t going the way I’d like at Chelsea, so it’s all the better that things are going well here under Hansi Flick.

“I really enjoy playing football, no matter where I’m playing. There are differences in the style of play between football at Chelsea and here.

“Maybe the one at the national team suits me better. Here, I always have scoring chances, I can score goals. I feel very comfortable here.”

So far this season, Werner has just one goal in 14 appearances for the Blues.
