Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres is reportedly set to become an Arsenal player during the summer transfer window, according to renowned transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Swedish international has emerged as one of the top targets for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Arsenal have been actively exploring options to sign a new centre-forward, with Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko both heavily linked. While reports initially suggested the Gunners had reached a verbal agreement to sign Sesko, growing concerns over his wage demands and difficulties finalising personal terms have led Arsenal to reconsider their pursuit.

As a result, focus has shifted back to Gyokeres, who recently won a fan poll on football.london as the preferred striker signing among Arsenal supporters. His strong performances in Portugal have caught the attention of Europe’s top clubs, and Arsenal are believed to be leading the race.

However, the transfer has not been straightforward. Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding a potential gentleman’s agreement between Gyokeres and Sporting over a reduced release clause, complicating negotiations. Despite this, confidence remains high within the Arsenal camp that a deal can be struck in the coming weeks.

With attacking reinforcements a key priority, Gyokeres is seen as a powerful and consistent striker who could bring a new dimension to Arsenal’s front line as they aim to challenge for major honours next season.
